40 Years of Golf
In 2025, the Glenn Anderson Day of Golf celebrated its 40th anniversary, marking four decades of raising over $20 million for cancer research, treatment and care in Alberta. To honour this milestone, the Day of Golf committee hosted a celebration on August 6, 2025, at the River Cree Resort and Casino. Focus Communications was proud to play a leading role in making the evening memorable.
Dean Heuman, Principal of Focus Communications, volunteered to be the chair of the event, and together with the rest of the Focus team, put together a important night of celebration.
Capturing 40 Years of Impact
The team began by filling in gaps in the tournament’s historical record. They interviewed founders, long-time volunteers, and medical professionals to document the rich history of the tournament and its impact on cancer care in Alberta.
These stories became the foundation for:
- A detailed event program celebrating the tournament’s 40 years
- A video series celebrating its legacy and highlighting its contributions to cancer research, treatment, and care
- A feature video showcasing the initiatives which would be funded by the 40th anniversary tournament

The 40th Anniversary Celebration
Focus Communications designed a custom ticketing platform on the Day of Golf website, allowing guests to purchase individual tickets, full tables, or special sponsor (“hero”) tables. The team also wrote the MC’s event script and provided photography throughout the evening, ensuring the celebration was both well-organized and documented.
Special Announcement

During the celebration, Edmonton Oilers Alumni and Hockey Hall of Fame Inductee Kevin Lowe took to the stage to make an announcement about the future of the tournament.

Kevin announced that the Edmonton Oilers Alumni will take on a larger role in the tournament starting next year. The new logo for the Glenn Anderson & Oilers Alumni Day of Golf for the Cross Cancer Institute (which Focus designed) was also unveiled.

On behalf of the Toast of the Town Committee, and myself, THANK YOU. The Celebration Dinner last week was a big success and showcased the accomplishments of the Day of Golf and the tremendous involvement and support from Glenn Anderson. The way that you and your team put the evening together with slide shows, the Hot Stove, and including Glenn's closest friends and family truly met the intent of celebrating the last 40 years. You were able to draw out a significant amount of donations on an event that we didn't expect to see that level of contribution, Well Done!
