Just like many of you, our office is having a lot of talks about Artificial Intelligence. What we can do with it, what we should do with it, how cool it can be, how helpful it can be, and how scary it can be.
As more stories emerge about companies using AI to write entire reports and submitting them as their own, it’s brought up a lot of issues around trust. People are scared of losing their jobs and scared that the media they’re consuming may not even be created by humans.
Guaranteed Human?
iHeartMedia announced that DJs will now clarify “guaranteed human” on-air to let listeners know that real people are running the show. Because they know people want an “authentic human connection,” they are making sure their listeners know that they are not relying on AI music or AI personalities.
While I think it’s great that they are not relying on AI, it’s a little alarming to me to hear that something is “guaranteed human”. It reminds me of when we were kids, and we would pretend to be aliens and introduce ourselves to others by saying “Greetings, Earthlings.”
It’s a little unsettling.
I recently attended the 2025 Edelman Trust Barometer flash poll webinar on Trust and Artificial Intelligence at a Crossroads. There were a lot of surprising factoids in there that I did not expect. For example, the vast majority of people have not had any bad experiences with AI but are still reluctant to use it. It was also clear that different countries have very different takes on how trustworthy AI is, and how willing they are to use it regularly.
So, I’m curious as to what people are using AI for in their lives? Do you use it at work? Do you use it to create a grocery list? Are you more trusting of this new tech or suspicious? Understanding how we engage with AI may be key to shaping a more informed and trusted path forward.
