Businesses in the Edmonton downtown asked Focus Communications to bring back the Christmas parade. Focus got busy. A few months later at twilight on a Saturday night in November, floats announced the arrival of the season. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus toured the parade route in their sparkly sleighs. Float after float followed.

The first Santa’s Parade of Lights rolled out in 2015. Now it’s an established Edmonton tradition. On the third Saturday in November, Edmonton lights up for the show. Focus organizes the event, secures sponsorships, works with designers (Cindi Zuby and Lynette Maurice) to create one-of-a-kind entries for participating businesses, manages logistics, and captures the excitement with video.

Children bring their letters for Santa. Canada Post and Focus collect their wishes, which the post office forwards on to the North Pole.

Since 2015, attendance has climbed steadily from 11,000 in the early days to 35,000 in 2017.
