Communications Training for Managers — Most organizations rely on middle managers to discuss corporate news with their staff. They dutifully create memos or presentations for manager to give to their staff, and then tell staff to ask the manager if they have any questions. That’s where it all falls apart. Most organizations don’t do a good enough job supporting middle managers with extra information, Q&A sheets or other resources. When staff ask questions then, not surprisingly, managers are stumped! Helping middle managers understand their unique and challenging roles as ‘corporate translators’ involves training and support. Focus Communications has developed a comprehensive training program for middle managers, complete with in-class exercises and questions to prompt their thinking. Participants leave with a workbook and renewed confidence in their abilities to effectively communicate with their staff.
Employee Engagement — Employee engagement is a strong method of connecting employees with their companies or organizations. Strong engagement improves productivity, loyalty, innovation and job satisfaction. Focus Communications fully understands the drivers behind employee engagement and how to assess engagement in an organization. We can create a customized program to suit your environment and workforce that can improve the engagement and dedication of your employees.
Social Media Strategies - Focus Communications understands, and uses, social media in a business context to help achieve corporate objectives. Focus Communications can create and help execute social media plans, and provide training in how to use Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and other social media sites, especially for those just getting started.
Social Media Engagement - Focus Communications can post and monitor conversations for your company, or teach you or your staff to do it. It is critical to invest sufficient time in these new media in order to attract and retain your audiences. Social media provides an immediate way for customers to talk about their experiences with your company - and you need to be ready to respond in a timely, responsible way. We can help.
Social Media Packages - Focus Communications offers a variety of packages suited for your company's needs. From the discovery and planning phase, to the setting up, training, and monthly maintenance and monitoring, Focus will enhance your company's online presence.
Analytics - When it comes to social media, there are a range of tools available to measure "eyeballs on screen." Focus Communications is well-versed in the main analytical tools and can provide regular reports - and analysis - to you about your social media presence.
Marketing Strategies — Focus Communications creates marketing plans that clearly define market segments and the audiences you are seeking as well as establish the means to reach them. With consideration to the resources available to you, plans are customized to suit not only your business needs but its limitations in order to better ensure the execution and
success of each plan.
Advertising Plans — To help you meet your sales objectives, we develop targeted customer
attraction and retention strategies. Focus Communications is experienced in a wide range of media, including print, direct mail, TV, radio, outdoor, transit, specialty (promo items), web, and more! We can obtain quotes and source suppliers for graphic design, printing, media buying, and web development — and facilitate the entire process!
Sponsorship — Sponsorship can be a vital component in the success of some business
activities. Careful planning - determining and reaching out to the most applicable supporters - and the professional development of sponsor specific resources can make a significant difference in who signs on. Through research and development, Focus Communications can create a sponsorship strategy for your business and generate the resources required to execute the strategy.
Promotions - In-store or out-of-store promotions can be a great way to raise awareness or generate traffic. Events, product giveaways and other activities can be a powerful way to engage new audiences.

COMMUNICATIONS TRAINING FOR MANAGERS
By Request
Drawing on current research, best practices and our experience, this workshop will help set the stage for more effective communications in any organization. Participants will come away with a greater understanding that communication is a shared responsibility (one that today’s generation insists upon), and the tools to help them get started right away.
The workshop will cover the following topics:
Why communicate? This section discusses communication: what’s in it for the manager and what’s in it for the employee. We often hear what head office wants managers to say. But what is it that employees want to hear?
Employee engagement. This section discusses the impact that engaged employees have on the bottom line and the seven factors to engagement.
Today’s workforce. Who comes to work each day? What factors influence their preferred methods of communication? Here, we explore the generation gap between those who are likely in charge (Veterans and Boomers) and those who are likely on the front line (Gen X and Y).
Effective communication. This section covers different communication methods to reach different audiences. Where do we start? What’s the role of the middle manager?
Case study. Lastly, we review a case study for an imaginary furniture manufacturer, XYZ Corporation. In this hands-on section, we tackle how to start, and continue, the dialogue with XYZ’s range of employees about the company’s new strategic plan. Participants are given opportunities to assess how they would handle each aspect of the communication process, and explore what they need from their staff to be successful.
